Students Code of Conduct


These rules aim to establish a set of guidelines on the appropriate types of clothing and jewelry for Muslim students of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University including appearance, limitations of socialization among students in order to protect the good name of Islam UNISSA and actual recommendations, in line with its position as a pure Islamic university derived from the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah as the basis of study.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Rule No. 31, in Institution of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, hence the Council of the University hereby makes the following rules:

 

  1. All students must be suitably dressed as a Muslim university student and practice the application of modest and concealing attire when in public such as at the lecture mall, library or offices.
  2. Students should always display their student ID to attend all official functions.
  3. Students should wear dark-colored shoes, without wearing sandal, slippers or boots or wearing t-shirt while on the campus or dealing with any officer of UNISSA.
  4. Students are prohibited from wearing any garment displaying labels contradicting good moral character or containing words or phrases designed to oppose the teachings of religion, values or norms that are noble and good.
  5. Students are subject to comply to a set of ethics that have been laid down for students.
  6. Students who do not comply with the ethics set by UNISSA are found guilty of an offence which shall be penalized under UNISSA and the students will be barred from joining their lectures, tutorials and sitting for the exam. The student will also be prohibited from cooperating with any UNISSA officer during this disciplinary offence.

Ethics for Male Students

Ethics of Dress and Appearance for Male Students:

 

  1. Students must wear clothes that cover the prohibited parts of a Muslim man, wearing smart long pants (slacks), colored long sleeved shirt or the national attire (Cara Melayu) in its complete form with dark colored shoes. Jeans are prohibited.
  2. Students must wear shoes, not slippers, sandals, nor boots nor must they wear collarless T-Shirt while on the campus or while dealing with any officer of UNISSA.
  3. Students are required to have short hair, which is neat and does not reach the collar.
  4. Students are required to wear a cap while on campus and off-campus this application is encouraged.
  5. A student is prohibited from sporting unreasonably fashionable hair and coloring it with odd colors (yellow, green, blue, red, etc).
  6. Local students are encouraged to wear the national costume (Cara Melayu) on every Thursday and this practice is applied for every/any occasion that handled by UNISSA.
  7. The boys are not allowed to dress and fashion their hair like women.
  8. Male students are not allowed to wear jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets worn by women.
  9. Students are prohibited to practice ear piercing or any part of the face and body.

 

Ethics in Sport Attire for Male Students:

 

  1. Wearing loose sports clothing which is appropriate for Muslim students while sporting activities are being conducted.
  2. Wearing sports pants exceeding knee length while sporting activities are being conducted.
  3. Each student is encouraged to wear long sports shirts that cover the front and back side.
  4. Each student must also look neat with short hair.
  5. Wear appropriate shoes when participating in sports or recreational activities.

Ethics for Female Students

Ethics of Dress and Appearance for Female Students:

 

  1. Students must wear shoes, not slippers or sandals, or high heels of more than 2 inches.
  2. Students must wear proper hijab and cover their hair.
  3. Students must always dressed in baju kurung or loose and neatly cassocked robes, covering their hair.
  4. Female students are not allowed to dress like men.

 

Ethics of Sports Dress Code for Female Students:

 

  1. Students should wear loose and long covered clothes that cover the front and back with long sleeves.
  2. Sports pants worn are to be zipped to the end of pants to cover themselves and appear neat.
  3. Wearing a scarf/hijab according to the rules of Syariah.
  4. Sports pants should be sweat pants which are loose and dark in color.
  5. Wear appropriate shoes when participating in sports or recreational activities.
