The Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Languages plays a very important role and is committed in it’s efforts in producing graduates of high quality who are well-presented, open-minded and able to serve the needs of the community and the country. This Centre offers almost all the University required courses, which primarily focus on essential general and global oriented knowledge as well as second/foreign languages, to all the students in the University.

To ensure giving students the effective knowledge and proper Islamic values, and instill the spirit of service of the King, Religion and State
MISSION
To equip students with useful knowledge, and good human values derived from the culture of the society which is based on the principle of Islam, Malay and Monarchy; in order to serve the King, Religion and Nation.
MOTTO
“وَقُلِ اعْمَلُوا فَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ”
And say: Work; so Allah will see your work and (so will) His Messenger and the believers
OBJECTIVES
The establishment of the Centre prior to fulfill the following objectives:
- To create an integrated UNISSA community that is knowledgeable, pious and devoted in line with the Aqidah of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah;
- To produce students with a true and pure Bruneian identity and spirit and inculcate passion to serve the King, the Religion and the Nation in accordance with the country’s philosophy Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB);
- To provide students with a general educational background in a variety of disciplines, thus broadening their perspectives on global issues;
- To enable students to think wisely, communicate effectively, practice Islamic teachings in line with the Aqidah of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jammah and Mazhab Shafi’I as well as adhere to and maintain the splendid culture tradition and heritage of Islam and the country in line with the country’s MIB philosophy;
- To train students in mastering the basics of using computers and acquaint them with the latest information technology;
- To equip students with the main skills of language usage in Arabic, English and Malay, which are the mediums of Instruction in UNISSA;
- To nurture students’ character and identity through holistic approaches to education and development;
- To produce graduates who are intelligent, thoughtful, honest, reliable, versatile, dynamic, efficient and present themselves well, with behavior and attitudes founded in true Islamic values and global ethics; and
- To nurture students’ character through co-curriculum activities, which will in addition to forming the students, also positively contribute to the development of the country and the nation.
- To boost research activities amongst the academia of UNISSA, in support of their role and responsibility in producing researches that are beneficial to the society in general, and the communities of Brunei Darussalam in specific;
- To enrich the heritage of Islamic knowledge with research in various disciplines within Madhhab Shafii, in line with the needs and interests of Muslims today;
- To uphold the integrity of Madhhab Shafii school in Brunei Darussalam and support its spreading in Southeast Asia;
- To increase opportunities for collaborative research in Madhhab Shafii between UNISSA and other local and international Islamic Higher Education Institutions;
- To collect data, documents, manuscripts and other relevant sources in various disciplines within Madhhab Shafii for reference, records and archival purposes;
- To translate research findings and primary references of Madhhab Shafii and
- To maintain, publish, and disseminate research outcomes to the public.
