THE Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Brunei Darussalam, Amphay Kindavong paid a courtesy call on the Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal yesterday to discuss the possibility of sending students from Laos to UNISSA, especially for studying law.
The ambassador said Laos students are very keen to pursue civil and Syariah laws at UNISSA whose Faculty of Syariah and Law offers the double degree programme of Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Syariah.
Laos has a population of about 6.5 million and is highly committed to ensuring that its students are provided with higher education to face the competition in the international arena.
Despite the small Muslim population in Laos, its government is keen to send Laos students to learn Syariah law at UNISSA, said the ambassador who also attended a briefing on UNISSA and the university’s programmes.
