UNISSA holds Khatam Al-Quran in conjunction with upcoming convocation

IN CONJUNCTION with the 6th Hafl Al-Takharruj Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), a Khatam Al-Quran and thanksgiving doa ceremony for prospective graduates was held at the auditorium hall of UNISSA.
Present were 103 graduates, among them 44 male and 59 female students of Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma in Dirasat Islamiyyah and Barnamij Tarqiyyah.
Present as the guest of honour was the Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education, Dr Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, representing Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Education.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by mass recitation of attendees from Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah An-Naas.
The recitation of Takhtim was led by a student of the university and the event concluded with the Doa Khatam by Muhammad Dini bin Haji Morsidi, a Bachelor’s Degree in Syariah (Fiqh and Usul) student.

Also present was the Rector of UNISSA, Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Committee 6th Hafl Al-Takharruj UNISSA 2016; the Vice-Chancellor of UBD; the Vice-Chancellor of UTB; Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoE; main directors; deans and deputy deans; directors; officers and staff of UNISSA.
The event is held annually to encourage a culture of reading the Al-Quran among students and it is hoped that they can develop a love for the Al-Quran through reading and practising lessons from it in everyday life.
Similar to previous years, the Student Affairs Section in cooperation with the Religious Activity Coordinator have carried out a Halaqah Khatam Al-Quran Programme, the Al-Quran Reading Programme Group with the aim of completing 30 Juzuks of the Al-Quran for final year UNISSA students.
