UNISSA programme helps less fortunate

UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) through the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Finance (FEKIm) organised the 3rd ‘Ziarah Mahabbah programme’ in Mukim Lumapas from May 20-21.

The objective of the programme was to expose the undergraduates on the living conditions of individuals who live outside the city, who are in need of support and assistance to alleviate their burden especially in the month of Ramadhan. The programme acted as a platform to train students to become future leaders of tolerance and caring.

A total of 10 families Kampong Putat, Kampong Kasat, Kampong Tarap Bau/Lupak Luas, Kampong Lumapas ‘A’ and Kampong Lumapas ‘B’ have been identified for this programme.

Among activities included in the programme were cleaning campaign of homes, religious Tazkirah, and a motivational lecture titled ‘Belia Pemangkin Negara, Bersatu Membantu Ummah’.

Sixty-seven students from Year 1 and 3, and 17 assisting officers comprising lecturers and staff of FEKIm were involved in the cleaning campaign.

Present as the guest of honour was Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA. Also in attendance were Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad, Assistant Rector of UNISSA; Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Acting Deputy Rector; Dean of FEKIm; senior officers at UNISSA, village heads and imams of Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun.

The programme concluded with the presentation of donations to the selected families at Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque.
